Most depth tools hand you a gradient and call it a relief
Run a coin through a standard AI depth model and it comes back flat. That is not a bug — from a camera's point of view a coin is flat, so the model reports one plane and the portrait, the lettering and the engraving all disappear. The same thing happens to carved plaques, medallions and jewellery: exactly the work that people actually pay to have engraved.
DepthGen Pro detects a relief object and switches to a photometric reconstruction pipeline that rebuilds height from the metal's own shading — the principle mint engravers have used for two centuries. That is the difference between a depth map that looks like a photo of a coin and one that cuts like a coin.

Depth Anything V2, Depth Anything V3 and Lotus 2 all ship with the app and all run offline. DepthGen Pro classifies your image — relief object, flat line-art or photograph — and routes it to the right one. No guessing, no single black box.
Detail transfer
AI depth estimation smooths away skin pores, fabric weave, hairline detail and engraved lettering. The detail-transfer engine merges the model's broad structure with the original photo's own micro-detail, so the result reads as sculpted rather than machine-flattened.
Non-destructive editing
A manual height brush, edge-preserving smoothing, contrast control and full undo/redo sit on top of the AI output. You are never stuck with what the model decided, and you never open Photoshop to fix it.
Controls that map to real depth
Depth Strength, Black Level, White Ceiling, Midpoint Bias, and Range Floor and Ceiling set the physical depth of the cut directly. Invert flips raised to recessed for negative engraving and wax seals. These are parameters, not sliders labelled "quality".
